Jeremy's second cello lesson with Tim was not much different than the first. Jeremy said nothing and Tim tried to get him to open up. Is Jeremy going to turn away from the cello without the caring, if charmed eyes of Kate or some other woman with whom Jeremy can flirt?
I had a long talk with Jeremy on the way home about being respectful
to his teacher and letting Tim help him learn to be a good cello player. Coincidentally, I had a similar conversation with Harry about a month ago after Abe intimated that Harry had "had a lot of energy" at their lesson that day. (I think I actually heard Abe say, "OK, we're done," not in an angry way, but a way that suggested a little exasperation.) That discussion with Harry was more direct in terms of what is appropriate, when it's time to be silly and when it's not, and what it means to have "fun" it different circumstances. I get the impression that Harry's behavior after that was still fun-loving, but far more appropriate. The conversation with Jeremy still talked about what would be appropriate behavior with a teacher, but also encouraging Jeremy to give Tim a chance to help him learn to play the cello. We'll see...
