Bowling! It's been a while since I've taken the boys bowling and with mommy off to a "dinner thing" at work tonight it seemed like a good day for it. There's a nice old candlepin bowling alley a couple of towns away that Harry will actually be going to this coming Saturday for a birthday party, so today he got in a little advance practice.

Interestingly, Jeremy scored better than Harry in both of the games we played and I'm pretty sure Harry was watching the numbers. It's surprising because it seems completely random with both of them, since it might have been only once in every 20 or 30 throws that either one got a ball down the lane without it hitting the gutter bumpers they put up for young kids. In fact, Harry's balls were overall a lot straighter and harder. Still, Jeremy's scored better, including a ten box and a spare. I was hoping so much that Harry would knock them all down just once, but it didn't happen. I told him I was most proud that he scored much better in the second game, we all did, and that Harry game 2 score beat my game 1 score. But I don't think it quite meant as much to a five-year-old as winning. The lessons of life...
