Harry's in first grade and he's getting homework. It usually consists of copying his ten spelling words or using one each in three different sentences and doesn't take him more than 5-10 minutes, but I guess it's about developing habits. We also need to right down how many pages he or we read to him and for how long. The teacher says it doesn't matter who reads, just that the kids are exposed to books. Harry seems to like to read himself more often these days, although sometimes he gets weary from the effort and we read.

And today he took his first spelling test. I was traveling, but apparently he got all ten words right and aced the test. His mother tells me that last night she helped him practice.
