July 1, 2000 - Saturday
Harry spent the
first half of moving day with his grandmother while his grandfather, mother,
aunt and uncle, cousins, friends, and me loaded a rental truck and headed
for Harry's new home town. By the time
I saw Harry again, I had driven the truck to the new house and was in the
process of unloading. We were done moving boxes and furniture by 3:00pm, a
success by any measure, and spent the rest of the afternoon with drinks in
the back yard and Harry entertaining friends and relatives on our new deck.
We're very happy to have moved Harry out of a hundred year-old house, no doubt
full of lead paint, and into a clean, lead paint free 15 year old house. For
the last couple of weeks I've been thinking that it was coming down to the
wire. Harry looked like he was on the verge of busting out and becoming truly
mobile. Any day now it seems he'll start being into everything and fortunately,
as of today, we're in a better place for that to happen.
