We've started to look into Preschools for Jeremy and this morning visited
a place that had no openings when Harry was that age. It seems more likely
that they will for Jeremy and that's good because it seems like a perfect
place for him and because Harry's school is changing its hours to times and
essentially increasing dramatically what we'd need to pay. However, given
the nature of Harry's current classroom and to have
both boys in the same place, we are also considering moving Harry. During
our entire visit of almost an hour, the four-years-olds at this new place
acted like perfect little angels, answering questions at there morning circle
and then sitting quietly around tables with their individual piles of clay.
It suffices to say that the difference between this and Harry's current environrment
is dramatic. Too dramatic to move him there? Would he be the hell-raiser at
this new place even if he's the quiet one at his current school? Actually,
I'm told that Harry stands up for himself just fine and that encouraging.
Indeed, is that better training for the future than sitting quietly around
a table?
These seem like very stange questions to be asking. Of course, we want Harry
to be polite and well-mannered. But, would the jolt to such a structured atmosphere,
then a jolt back once he starts public school really be a positive step? Maybe
we're over-thinking...
