February 7, 2004 - Saturday
For the last two nights the boys' mother and I have been staying at this idyllic
Bed & Breakfast across the street from this little skating pond in the
middle of the town common of Brunswick, Maine. Like our
trip to Montreal last winter, this three day trip sans enfant has
been, in a way, a fairly benign string of wandering through shops, an afternoon
nap, a matinee movie, a couple of dinners out (although our dinner at the
humbly-appearing Star Fish Grill was one of the best seafood meals we've ever
had!), and skating in the sunlight, the moonlight, and in the snow. But, with
two little children running around at home, glamour and luxury take on an
entirely different meaning. On the other hand, a charming Bed & Breakfast,
a fabulous seafood dinner, and skating in the moonlight sounds pretty glamorous
to me under any circumstances.
