I've been singing to Jeremy at bedtime for a couple days in a row! It started
by my singing Harry's old standby, "Great
Big Rollin' Railroad," while we were looking at Jeremy's new train
book, one of those bargain table-type collections of trains through the years
and my country. He loves the book, but there's no real point of reading the
text in it to a two-year-old. It's all about the many pictures and looking
at the same ones night after night can be a bit tedious. So, on a whim I sang
what Harry called the "Freight Train Song."

I've tried to sing to Jeremy at times, but it'd never taken off like it did
with Harry and I have no idea whether that was because of me or Jeremy. Perhaps
it's simply that with Harry I was doing it nightly and therefore got into
a routine. With Jeremy I was, at the start, an ocassional fill in for mommy
and, more recently, a regular, but still part-time goodnight story teller.
(Lately, we've usually let the boys decide which of us they want to have read
to them and amazingly it usually works out. I guess that's because the question
usually goes to Jeremy who is out of the bathroom first and Harry doesn't
    typically complain).

So, I've been singing to Jeremy for a few nights and it's a wonderful and
fun novelty, for both him and me. Since I've never really sung to him regularly,
he's curious about it and likes to hear what are essentially new songs to
him. He smiles and asks for more and it's a lot of fun again. But, it won't
last. Jeremy usually likes the same stories for a week or two then moves on
and that will certainly happen with the songs, too. But, that's OK. It's fun
    for now.
