Another of our projects this week was to stain this
hutch that we bought (unfinished) about two months ago. We'd wanted to wait
for warmer weather so we could just open the windows and do it in the dining
room rather than moving it again. Harry, and Jeremy to a lesser extent, noticed
right away when the doors started to be closed this week and got a lot more
excited, and a lot more excited than I would have thought, when we opened
them up again to put the doors back on and the drawers back in.

"What are we going to put on it?" he asked and immediately started
hyperactively looking around. There was nothing to do but go with it and begin
the four-year delayed work of emptying the overcrowded kitchen cabinets. Harry
was excited, sure, but what surprised me most was that he was also committed
to doing this, moving plants, tea pots, and eventually, with his mother and
I ultimately needing to just let it had regardless of the tenuous nature of
it, glass and stemware until we were all done with nothing else to move. Of
course, Harry was careful and there were no problems, no breakage, just Harry
acting like a wonderfully helpful son.
