Last Friday evening the boys had a new baby-sitter: Eddie, a high school boy
from across the street. Things went just fine apparently, save Harry negotiating
his way to 9:45 before going to bed (we told Eddie 8:00 was normal but that
it didn't really matter too much, and it didn't, although 9:45 was later than
we thought it would go). We had to leave right after the boys sat down for
dinner and apparently the boys convinced Eddie to bring them outside in the
waning daylight after dinner. So, what do boys do outside? For the last several
days Harry and Jeremy have been going out to this
tree in front of our house, calling it a fort, and banging around with
sticks. I'm guessing that's what they did with Eddie until he taught them
about climbing. (Eddie's a good kid and I'm guessing he didn't like the banging
of leafs much more than we do and tried to redirect their focus, but I'm not
sure of that.) Of course, the tree is a little too tall for our boys, but
Harry resourcefully configured this ramp from a stick and he and his brother
have been frequent climbers ever since. Well, at least Harry is, Jeremy mostly
supports the endeavor.
