We did not really launch the canoe like this with the boys in it alone, but for at least a little while their mother and I did sit in the middle on the floor of the canoe and essentially let Harry and Jeremy paddle. It was an experiment of sorts, of course, and it worked out about as well as might be expected. They liked paddling, but had nowhere near the focus or strength to keep it going for very long. Eventually mommy and I took over, but I think the experiment might have made it a little easier encouraging the boys not to randomly play (counter-productively to our paddling) with their paddlers in the water. Well, maybe a little anyway...
