Today was Harry's last day at the Moppet School and last night and this morning we made a large card for Miss Maria. Earlier in the week Harry said something about getting a present for Miss Angela, too, but she's not there in the summer so he won't see here. I don't know why I didn't think to take a picture of the card, but it had water color painting on the front in Harry's areas of color style and on the inside there was a picture of Harry at graduation (Miss Maria had to miss graduation for the first time ever due to a gall bladder operation) and the words "Miss Maria Thank you for being my teacher Harry." Harry wrote the whole thing, sounding out all of the words in order to spell them. The picture was slid into a little frame I made out of a second piece of paper cut in a rectangle with another rectangle cut out of the middle. Harry painted the frame and the card around the frame to make it blend in well. I thought it really came out nicely. More importantly, Miss Maria seemed quite touched by it, saying "thank you" to Harry and hugging him, and then saying "thank you" to me after he ran off to play.
I went to say goodbye to Harry and added, "I think that worked out pretty well."
"Yeah, that worked out pretty well," he answered with a little bit of a knowing smile. But it was more how he said it that suggested he got it. He made someone happy and that was good.
