December 22, 2005 - Thursday
Grandpa John and Grandma Judy arrived this afternoon for the holiday and, in the interest of an easy evening meal, we all went over to Scotch Pine Farm. It's a place we've been before for Sunday breakfast many times, but it's now under new ownership. The building has had major renovations and they now serve Thursday dinner. It's an odd night, of course, but apparently it's because the chef they're partnering with runs a local catering business and is, thus, busy with that on the weekends. But then, there aren't too many dining options in the distant suburbs and so if Thursday is what the people get, Thursday is what they will probably take. We got there early and got a table right away, but there was a line waiting when we left, everyone waiting to try the new food and see the changes. The food was indeed very good, surprisingly so, but with a local place like this the best part is being in the community and while we were sitting at the table, Harry noticed one of his classroom teacher's assistants and turned to say, "hi, Mrs. Femino." She responded in kind and it made Harry so proud that he recognize someone.
