Jeremy is still picking out a cello music CD for the short ride to school each morning and asking for cello music at bedtime, but there has been a dramatic change over the last week or week and a half. Instead of insisting on a different CD every day, he has recently been picking the same one each day: the Suzuki Cello Lesson CD featuring variations on Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. And the reason, I'm almost sure, is that he's had something of a musical breakthrough and I find that very exciting.
"Those are the ones I play," he says, referring to the music book he has that accompanies the Suzuki teaching CD. And he says, "those are the ones on the CD," when looking at the book. Of course, "play" is probably an relative term when it comes to Jeremy's current ability on the cello. His little figures still have trouble physically pushing down the strings. But that hardly matters. He's still interested in it. He still likes the idea of listening to cello music. And now there is a very definite connection that seems to be fueling his interest. It's very exciting.
