July 9, 2005 - Saturday
We can't go to Pittsburgh and not ride on the incline train. Well, at least we can't yet until the boys are a little older. I may have read Harry wrong, but I think he may have been a little less enthusiastic than in past years. This is his third incline ride, starting when he was two. In hindsight, maybe Harry would have been more interested if we had tried the Duquesne Incline instead of the Monongahela Incline where we've always gone, but it's hard to know. Not surprisingly, Jeremy is at the near-perfect age for this and was very interested in going. (He actually threw one of his three-year-old fits yesterday leaving the Science Center because he wanted to go on it. I was actually thinking of stopping there on the way home, but hadn't gotten it out before Jeremy started his charade and I feel very strongly that such antics are never to be rewarded. So we waited. Besides, it was a full day at the Science Center). Of course, once we were there Harry was into it.

The afternoon's activity was just to go to another playground, also one we've been to before. It's really amazing how much more a boy Harry is now than just a few months ago, running faster, being more daring. He's much more adept at the fire pole than he was just last fall. He plays wonderfully with Jeremy, but he's so much faster and just needs to move, play chase games, and try need things. Jeremy's just happy doing his thing.

I think the best thing about this day, however, was that it was very relaxed and that these little activities were enough. The boys had fun playing on the porch of grandpa's house and we didn't have to worry about naps anymore or about constantly entertaining them as we have needed to on past visits.
