April 17, 2000 - Monday
Harry stayed with
his aunt this afternoon while his mother, his uncle, and I all went out to
see a local sporting attraction. She wanted to stay at our house in anticipation
of expected phone calls from potential employers. Waiting for something that
might never happen may sound awful, but today it paid off. She got confirmation
of one job offer and, though she was trying to feed Harry a bottle when another
call came, she secured another interview appointment at a different company,
which she ran off to after we returned.
With a job offer in hand, aunt and uncle already had a successful trip. The
other piece of the puzzle was an apartment and unfortunately there was no
confirmation of the potential free short-term corporate apartment that might
still be available with the first job. Still, all things considered, it was
a good day for them.
