April 18, 2000 - Tuesday
We have a TV in
our bedroom and, although I know it's a bad habit, I often watch it a little
before going to sleep. At that time it's usually the news, or maybe one of
the late night shows, and by then Harry is usually asleep in his nearby crib.
I don't know for sure yet, but I'm starting to think that the TV bothers Harry.
It's never very loud at all, and I'm sure he can't mind the newscasters, but
TVs emit a very high pitched (electrical?) tone when they're on and I wonder
whether Harry hears it. Perhaps, it's just my guilt, but it seems he becomes
much more restless when I'm watching the TV, as he was last night.
It's supposed to be spring now, but Harry's mother took him for a walk to
the grocery store and had to bundle him like it was still winter. He did wear
his relatively new denim spring jacket, but also a cap underneath its hood
and blankets strewn about him. Fortunately, Harry was a winter baby and doesn't
yet know the pleasures of real spring weather. He's had a taste of it lately
and hopefully it won't be long before he can see the real thing.
Minutes before they left, Harry's aunt and uncle confirmed that when they
move next month, they'll be able to move into a free corporate apartment not
too far from where we live. It will be only for a few months, but long enough
to conduct a real search for a house of their own.
