With maturity
beyond his years - or months, Harry slept in both yesterday and this morning.
Usually, he'll wake up for milk sometime between 5:30 and 6:30, much to his
mother's chagrin, but Saturday he slept past 8:00am and today past 7:30am.
It's, of course, hard to know what that means for his long term schedule,
and it did throw the timing off for his meals and sleeping the rest of both
days, but it was nice to not be woken up early.
More interestingly to me, however, I did hear Harry stir in his crib in the
very early hours of both Friday and Saturday mornings. He even made a few
vocal sounds. But, somehow he didn't seem committed and, remembering something
I read about parents actually disrupting their babies slept by getting them
up at any hint of movement and with the early more comfort of a warm bed,
I physically discouraged his mother from getting up. She happily obliged and,
wouldn't you know, Harry quickly fell back to sleep on both occasions.
All of that leads to the theory that it may be time for us to move Harry's
crib into the next room (the room that would have been the nursery if we were
to live here for much longer). The same book referenced above suggested that
moving a baby's crib out of the parents bedroom often betters sleep for all
concerned. It's possible, I suppose, that Harry's mother's attentiveness all
these early morning hours was unnecessarily waking both her and Harry. I tend
to think not, however, and that it has been necessary. But, perhaps now is
the time to take the next step.
