February 28, 2004 - Saturday
Last night at bedtime (the garbage incident a distant
memory), I was showing Harry maps of the world and of Japan, where I am now
heading on a 13 hour flight. I kind of stupidly told him that it's a very
long way away, almost as far away as I could go, before immediately realizing
that going as far away as that might be worrying to a little boy. So, I quickly
joked about it "being on the other side"
where it would be day when it would be night at home. And, then I talked about
how if one could go straight through the middle of the earth, Japan is close
to where you'd come out (save a couple of time zones). We had fun looking
at the maps and a book about Japan, Harry being inquisitive and all. But,
ultimately, it came down to Harry figuring out this travel thing:"Do
they have toys there?"
