At dinner this evening, Harry started talking about our visit
to the aquarium more than a year ago with grandpa John. I'm not sure where
the thought came from, although I suspect from his Pre-K class talking about
skeletons and dinosaurs, because it started in the most peculiar way. Harry
didn't mention the fish or the penguins first, but rather the "dinosaur
skeleton at the museum." His mother and I didn't, at first, understand
what and what museum he was talking about. We tried to correct him suggesting
he must be talking about a different museum with a dinosaur stature out front,
but he persisted. Then, he started describing where the skeleton was, hanging
from the ceiling and, sure enough, while it's really not what I think of as
a highlight of the aquarium, there is a large whale skeleton effectively hanging
from the roof of the aquarium and that was clearly what Harry was talking
about. That's more than a quarter of his life ago and he remembers it in surprising
clarity, and in some ways better than we do.
