January 9, 2005 - Sunday
It's been four days since I saw the boys and, as always happens when I return
from a business trip, it seemed like I've fast forward somehow. This time it is Jeremy's speech. Sure, he still talks with his
own very distinct pronunciation, but all of a sudden he's using a lot more
words than I thought he knew. The other thing I noticed when Harry, then Jeremy
a couple of moments later, walked into the bedroom this morning is that they
do, as everyone keeps saying, look an awful lot alike.
One novel
thing that happened today was that Rip called Harry and the two of them talked
silly for a few minutes. Actually, Rip called while Harry was out with mommy
and Harry had to return the call, I had him dial the number himself. Since
nothing came of the call I eventually called Rip's mother and asked whether
there was something that was to have been communicated and she'd said that Rip had
originally wanted to invite Harry over to go sledding (something we parents
had talked about for a while). Rip's mom and I worked out the details...
This evening the boys convinced me to give them a bath. I don't really know
what Harry's angle was, but he and Jeremy somehow decided that's what they
wanted and they begged me to do it, ultimately saying very sweetly, "but
daddy's been away on his business trip so long." How could I turn that
down? I guess it's a novelty when I do the bath.
