I guess it was probably some time last October or so when Harry started recognizing pop songs on our car radio. I remember changing station and him saying things like, "oh, do the 'When September Ends' song," referring to the Green Day song he'd heard on his school bus. It was a little surprised initially, but it quickly became apparent that the school bus has a radio and probably plays a station that repeats the most popular school fairly regularly.
Today it went to the next level. Today Harry started singing along with the lyrics of a song, and more than just a single phrase, and ovretly. The song was a song of unrequited love, "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt, and Harry seemed to know a surprising amount of words, at least through the chorus. I guess this is just a logic step in Harry's growing up, but it seemed so odd for this usually very guarded little boy to be sitting there singing along so openly; to a love song no less. I'm sure the lyrics probably didn't mean much to him, just the same as me obliviously singing along with lyrics like "Afternoon Delight" when I was a boy. But it was so charming coming from Harry.
