Harry's been speaking negatively about the babysitting experience with Rip since this past Sunday. At first I thought he was probably just being a little melodramatic about it or looking for some first-child sympathy. After all, it seems to me that of the five hours that they all spent together that there was just one thing that went wrong. Sometimes with Harry, that all it takes. He's consistently said he doesn't want to go back to New York because, although we had a great trip to New York, he vomited the night we got back. He's also convinced it was because of New York. (In a sense it's hard to argue with the idea of New York making someone sick, but that's a different matter.)

We probably won't have the opportunity to go back to New York all that soon, but I had already talked to Rip's mom about sharing a babysitter during the next afternoon symphony concert in March and it was probably going to happen. I figured I'd better get to the bottom of things and asked both Harry and Jeremy if they wanted Rip to come over again the next time we went to a concert with Rip's parents. I really thought I was calling Harry's bluff, but Harry said "no, he didn't want Rip coming over again with Kelly." More startlingly, Jeremy said the same thing.

I have to believe that getting bumped around one time last Sunday isn't what this is about. Maybe Harry still remembers what Rip did at Harry's birthday party and maybe the snow pants thing. Maybe there's even more to it than that. I don't know. Jeremy said Rip was "pushing" and I have no doubt that he was. He's a big kid for his age and likes to be physical. I suppose there's nothing wrong with that, until there is. And Rip, like most other six-year-olds tends to get excited and overbearing sometimes and it seems to be a ticky combination for Harry and Jeremy. The upshot of this discussion with Harry and Jeremy is that I would talk to Rip's mom about the wrestling.
