January 28, 2006 - Saturday
This report card came home yesterday in Harry's backpack, but we didn't see it until this morning (that seems to be how a lot of communications goes back and forth between parents and his teacher). I hadn't been expecting any report card, at least not until my parent teacher conference this coming Thursday. But, I guess we are the end of his first full semester of kindergarten and having it ahead of time means that we can look over it in advance.

Obviously, it's a very good report and it's consistent with what we learned about Harry's progress at last fall's parent-teacher conference. Harry is doing very well with reading and seems to be doing well socially as well. I suppose I'll need to ask about his two "Satisfactory-"grades for "Follows directions" and "Attends appropriately," although I'm thinking (hoping?) that it's just a normal youthful exuberance. After all, I don't really want Harry to be a straight goody-goody. I have no idea what "Demonstrates concepts about print" means. Is that penmanship? I thought Harry was doing pretty well with that.
