Today was the day for our town's kindergarten lottery and ,thankfully, Harry is in! Actually, it wasn't a matter of in or not, but rather full day kindergarten or half day and Harry got full day. That's important because we, and just about every other two-working-parent family, wouldn't know what we'd have done with him for half the day if he'd just gotten into half day kindergarten. I suppose if it were Jeremy, we might have asked Mary about having him come over in the afternoons, but with Harry the most likely scenario would be that I'd work less, given that his mother has a more structured schedule. Thankfully, it's moot.
We sat with Sabrina (who's name got picked before Harry's, so she's in too), Julia, and there mother in the elementary school cafeteria as the names were drawn from a barrel. Their mother needed to stay for the whole thing in order to pass on information to working neighbors, so I volunteered to take Sabrina and Julia out back to the same playground with Harry and Jeremy. This time it seemed Julia was even more friendly with Jeremy. I wonder whether her mother had mentioned that Jeremy liked her. Interestingly, her mother mentioned to me on the side that just the other day Julia announced that "she wasn't going to marry Brian," I think referring to the Brian in their preschool class. Perhaps Jeremy's making progress!
