I would have that that Harry would have been more interested in the show tunes/jazz part of the Pops concert last Thursday, but it was Jeremy who seemed to brighten up a little more at the late hour and it turns out he was listening. His mother tells me that while I was at Harry's T-Ball practice this past Monday evening, Jeremy was asking her to sing the "Green Pastures" song. For those who can't immediately place that Gershwin lyric (it took both of us a while and we even knew it had to be from one of the seven songs from the concert), it's a reference to "I've got daisies in green pastures" from "I've Got Rhythm." Then, while I was picking him up from the school, Jeremy started singing, "Po-tA-to, po-tah-to, to-mA-to, to-mah-to" from "Let's call the whole thing off."

I suppose he'd heard those songs once or twice in his life before the concert on an Ella Sings Gerwhine CD we have, but it's certainly been at least a year. We did play that CD on the way home from the concert, but Jeremy feel asleep pretty quickly. Of course, theory suggests that falling asleep time may be one the best time to learn.
