December 31, 2005 - Saturday
Jeremy's cello teacher, Tim, was conducting a youth orchestra this afternoon at the fabulous Mechanics Hall in Worcester as part of Worcester's annual First Night celebration. I think Jeremy is still getting used to Tim as a teacher, if not still pining for the Kate's charm, and we thought it might be nice for Jeremy to see Tim on stage conducting other kids. And it seemed to be a nice thing to do with the kids for New Year's Eve since Worcester has fireworks at both 7:30pm and midnight. We stayed for the 7:30 fireworks and during the afternoon and evening leading up to them we saw a very good juggler, yo-yo experts, a little ballet at the art museum, and the youth orchestra that even had a typmanist who couldn't have been more than 2-3 years older than Harry. One of the best parts of the day for me was wandering around the Worcester art museum with Jeremy. His comments weren't terribly insightful, but I kept asking him about the painting, their colors, what they were about, or what a particular facial expression might the subject was thinking, and his answers where at least thoughtful.
