A couple weeks ago the boys started listening to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony in the car. They asked for it because they had seen been watching the old Pink Panthers cartoons, one of which features the Pink Panther sitting in with an orchestra playing the Beethoven. Of course, the Pink Panther, in his typical mischievous way, starts playing jazz right in the middle much to the distress of the overly serious conductor, but the boys picked up on the Beethoven and asked to hear it. I was happy to agree, particularly because they have unmercifully been asking for Pictures at an Exhibition for several months. Of course, now it's been Beethoven every day in the car.
Hey, these are nice problems to have, I know. Kids demanding to hear Mussorgsky and Beethoven is a lot better than a whole lot of other stuff they might be demanding to hear. But is variety such a bad thing?
